ISP acts as an intermediary relationship with the Internet to our computer. ISPs can be a company that specializes in the Internet access service providers, communications companies can also provide an alternative Internet connection services, including the currently popular are telephone companies and mobile operators.
To use the ISP service, then we have to pay. There are various calculation systems and Internet access packages are offered. However, there are roughly 2 system is used, which is time based and volume based.
- Time based system: the cost of Internet usage is calculated based on the duration of Internet use.
- Volume based system: the cost is calculated based on the number of Internet data that we take and we send via the Internet.
So, what else do we need? In addition to alternative Internet connection, we also need to equip the computer with a modem device. If we do an Internet access via the Internet-featured mobile phone, it is not necessary to think about because the modem has been available on the phone. Modem function to change the digital signals from computers into analog signals for a communication channel, or vice versa. Thus, the data in the form of text, images, or videos from the Internet can appear on a computer screen or mobile phone, and vice versa, can be send from your computer or mobile phone to the Internet.
Type and model of the modem itself is very diverse. The difference lies in the type of Internet connection and speed we will use. The type of Internet connection including:
